Missouri Can you legally sell food from home in Missouri?
Cottage Food Law
Missouri has two different laws that allow homemade food sales, which combine to create an overall decent cottage food law. Producers can use both laws, if they’d like.
Unlike this law, Missouri’s other cottage food law is not available to everyone in the state. But in the counties that do allow it, it allows producers to sell most nonperishable foods at events and roadside stands, with very few restrictions.
Missouri created this law in 2014 (SB 525) to allow producers to sell from home, and it was improved in 2022 (HB 1697) to allow online sales and in-state shipping.
Under this law, producers can only sell nonperishable baked goods, jams, jellies, and herbs. Producers can only sell from home, which includes selling online and fulfilling orders that are delivered or shipped in-state.
There is no sales limit, and producers don’t need to get a permit from the health department or take a training course.
