At the very least, you need a sales tax certificate and you may need to get other local permits.

You need to prepare pizza in a commercial kitchen. http://forrager.com/faq/#commercial
David Crabill replied to the topic What is allowed in a non-commercial kitchen? in the forum Louisiana 9 years, 3 months ago
Yes, the only way is by using a commercial kitchen. You might be able to make meals in your home if you build a separate commercial kitchen in it. http://forrager.com/faq/#commercial

David Crabill replied to the topic CFO law , tax id for NY for online business in the forum Cookies, Brownies, & Bars 9 years, 4 months ago
The map links to the law page for NY: http://forrager.com/law/new-york/
That page gives a fairly detailed overview of the law and should answer many of your questions. You cannot start an online business from your home kitchen, and if you wanted to start a CFO, you would need to get registered by the ag dept. To start an online food business,…[Read more]

Unless you are buying and reselling commercially made a pre-packaged fondant toppers, I don’t think this would be allowed. I’m pretty sure you need to use a commercial kitchen. http://forrager.com/faq/#commercial
David Crabill replied to the topic Labeling & Nutritional Information in the forum Louisiana 9 years, 4 months ago
My recommendation is to simply not put nutrition info on labels, and this is what the vast majority of CFOs do. Most small businesses are automatically exempt from needing to include a nutrition facts panel.
Using a nutrition facts calculator is a good way to estimate the nutrition info in an item, but it will always be an approximation until you…[Read more]

Hey fellow entrepreneurs!
I’m curious about how you handled nutrition facts and labeling. I was able to understand the requirements of nutritional facts and listing the ingredients, but I am concerned about the accuracy of the nutrition facts. For one, it is very difficult to create perfectly equal sized energy bars and the only regulation is…[Read more]
David Crabill replied to the topic what can/cannot be added/used in cakes? in the forum Cake 9 years, 5 months ago
You can buy premade items and use them, as long as those items would be allowed if you made them. For instance, if Colorado doesn’t allow frostings that contain dairy, then you couldn’t use a commercially-produced frosting that contains dairy, even if it doesn’t require refrigeration. At least that is my understanding… perhaps the health dept…[Read more]

Your state of Colorado is the only one that has this product-based sales limit.
From my understanding, it’s actually pretty broad, and I think that, at the very least, different flavors of cake would be considered different products. I also think that a chocolate cake and a chocolate cupcake would be considered separate products, but I’m not sure…[Read more]

You should be able to sell fudge, but I don’t think you can sell butter. I know that you need to get a sales tax certificate, but beyond that, you’ll need to speak with your parish about what it takes to start a business. http://forrager.com/faq/#starting
