What equipment besides the freeze dryer will I need to include in this kitchen to pass an inspection for this candy making business. I assume I will need a sink and a…[Read more]

Corinne, see here to determine if you need insurance: https://forrager.com/faq/#insurance
If you do need it, get FLIP insurance, which is $300/year.Kim Krukowski joined the group Business 3 years, 9 months ago

Hi, do you have any low fare liability insurance to advise to me in Florida? I haven’t found anything under $82.00 a month.

I tried asking this (as a sample chart of accounts) a couple of years ago, but never got any real responses. Since then, I have started using Wave Accounting and it has been VERY easy to use.
Here are my expense categories from Wave. Much of this is from the default categories initially provided by Wave, but some are categories I have added to…[Read more]

If you use a free accounting software like Wave Accounting, you can just use the default categories they have. But in general, I wouldn’t worry about it too much. When you add expenses, you can add new categories at that point if your existing categories don’t fit.

Is anyone willing to share their startup and ongoing expense CATEGORIES? I am building a budgeting sheet and am trying to account for as much as possible. Thanks!

After having two tents in five years and not being very happy with their durability, I am looking for a new tent. Some of what I see on Amazon look and sound good, but I’m wondering what you Forrager members have found to be the sturdiest, most durable, and least problematic tents without having to spend a small fortune.
One market I attend uses…[Read more]

Are you sure that you can’t do this from your home kitchen? I’d recommend you contact the ag dept to see if it’s something you can do from your home kitchen, as that would be much easier and less expensive. The requirements for commercial kitchens are usually pretty complex and can cost well over $10k. You would need to talk to either the ag or…[Read more]
I have a cat and no pets is enshrined in stone with them.
Got it. Is that something you heard directly from an inspector, or are you just going with what they’ve posted online? Sometimes inspectors can be more lenient about that. But if not, then I understand your desire to build the commercial kitchen. However, I still don’t know if it’s worth the risk in the beginning. If it were me, I’d probably do it…[Read more]
