You should contact the ag dept about selling the teas and syrups… I don’t think you can sell them from your office. I believe you can only sell them at certain public markets and stores, so you might need to produce them in a commercial kitchen to sell them at your office.
I’m not familiar with the laws for selling deodorant, and you can try…[Read more]

Sorry I didn’t see this sooner, Wanda! Try entering “Spiro, OK”, and that should work.

Dylan, thanks so much for getting in touch with me. I’ll address each point below, but first, I think it’s important to note that Forrager is not intended to be totally comprehensive of all information for starting a CFO. There is plenty of additional info that could go on any given law page, but I’ve just tried to include the essentials so that…[Read more]

Hi all, I’m new to this site so bear with me if I may be asking a redundant question. I am a pet sitter, and recently started making dog treats. My treats are human grade: gluten free flour, ground flaxseed, eggs, pumpkin puree, and peanut butter. I understand that I cannot sell “dog food” under the cottage law, but I am thinking of labeling…[Read more]

Hello, trying to start up a small business with cakes in a jar I have been doing for my family and friends. I know I cannot use any creams in the jars just shelf stable frostings? is this correct? also wanted to know if I’m allowed to make hard candy apples? Is fruit allowed such as an apple covered in hard candy?
Yes, you should be able to sell jarred cakes with shelf-stable frosting.
You can sell uncut fruit and you can sell hard candy, so I assume that if you combine the two, that would be allowed. If you cut the apple, it wouldn’t be allowed, and even putting a stick in it might be a problem. You can call the ag dept to check.
Please note that New…[Read more]

If I could chime in regarding cookies…it’s coincidental that I had spent the last three weeks when I could perfecting the texture of these simple “Sugar Vanilla” Cookies. A base upon which I could make just about anything. You’re all absolutely right. When I see a cookie anywhere, I always think I could make the cookie better and cheaper…[Read more]

Last week, CFO and product pages got a design refresh that widens them and puts info tabs on your pages right where they should be — at the top. All that extra space has made room for a new “custom tabs” feature that will allow CFO Pro members to greatly customize their listings. Also, say goodbye to the product listing limit!
Unlimited Products…[Read more]Emily Broadbent joined the group Forrager 9 years, 1 month ago

CFO and product pages just got a makeover! We dropped the sidebar and moved info tabs to the top, which will hopefully make these pages easier to use.

Yes, I would say so. If your primary intention is to sell dog treats, I’d recommend you use the systems established for that type of business. Just for the record, every type of pet food should also be edible by humans. You might try selling them under-the-table for a couple months to verify that there is demand for your dog treats.
My first batch flew out the door! I definitely think there is a market for them. I agree that every dog food should be edible by humans, but I can guarantee that the majority of store brand dog foods are horrible for dogs! My Jack Russell is highly allergic to any dog food containing grains, corn, chicken, beef. He scratches like a maniac.…[Read more]
