Okay, now onto
something that's been on my mind for a long time.
Is it more on my mind right now due to Small Business Saturday and Giving Tuesday? Perhaps.
And that thing is this: Patreon*And let's just be clear:
this wasn't my idea.
The first time someone suggested that I start a Patreon for Forrager,
I dismissed the idea outright.
And if I'm being honest with myself, it's partly because
I have trouble asking for money. As you may have noticed,
I do a lot of things for free.
In fact,
the only reason I gave the idea a second thought is due to Liz Marek. On
Episode 32, she revealed that she didn't initially think Patreon would be a good idea, but ultimately, starting a
Patreon was a major turning point in her business.
And for what it's worth,
Forrager does currently operate in the red. I keep expenses pretty lean around here, so I don't have to pull much out of my savings to run Forrager, but still, it does limit growth opportunities.
So I've decided that I'll do what I always do when I'm at a crossroads, and
let you guide me on this one.
I created this survey so you can tell me, straight and simple: Is this a good idea? It's a short survey that
should only take a minute or two to complete.
Obviously,
I need you to be brutally honest with your answers. Please leave the sugar coating to your baked goods! :)

Forraging ahead,
David
* If you haven't heard of Patreon before, it's a platform that allows people to support creators that they love. For instance, if I had a Patreon membership, you could join it to support the work that I do with the podcast, cottage food industry, Forrager, etc.
P.S. I make it clear in the survey, but just to reiterate here: I'm still just as committed as ever to running the podcast and this newsletter for free. Rest assured, nothing is changing about that!
