Episode 3, where I talk with Dawn Belisle, who runs an alcohol-infused cupcakery in Atlanta, GA.
Even if you're not into alcohol-laced baked goods (like me), I think you'll find her story fascinating. She called the past 5 years a "roller coaster", from quitting her job as a trial lawyer, to selling in professional stadiums and large festivals, to going back to a job, to now looking for her own commercial kitchen.
Listen to Episode 3: From Lawyer To Boozy Baker with Dawn BelisleFinally, it looks like Oklahoma is getting some love this year in regards to improving their relatively weak cottage food law.
Check out
this article about a couple in Oklahoma who run a popular indoor farmers market. They USED to have 20 cottage food vendors, but because their farmers market is indoors, instead of outdoors, the health department said they had to turn away all of their cottage food vendors!
Half-baked state rules prevent indoor farmers market from selling breadFortunately, there are multiple bills in the current legislative session to try to improve OK's law. Let's hope one of them passes!
