First of all, I think it’s unlikely that savory jams would be allowed under this law. The types of canned goods you can produce must have an appropriate combination of sweet and/or acidic. Hi im looking into selling cupcakes from my home and the class A licence says we cant use dairy, eggs or cream..what are the ingredients i can use for my cakes and frosting?

You can use butter (does not need to be dairy-free) in your frostings, but you can’t use cream. I also don’t think you can use buttermilk. I have never heard that for Arizona. Are you sure the article was written for Arizona? If you can’t find info online about this, then you should contact your health dept for clarification. If you find that farmers can sell homemade goods, I’d really like to know!

Food is not necessarily non-taxable, especially at the county or city levels. Also, for events that charge an admission fee, I’ve heard that all food sold must be taxed. I’m not a tax expert, but I know that this stuff can be pretty complex and you should try to find someone in the govt who knows what they’re talking about.

Arizona’s law only allows baked goods and candy, but even if you dried produce in an oven, I don’t think they’d be allowed under the law. You probably need to use a commercial kitchen, but you should check with the health dept.

As far as I know, you can only use your residential home kitchen. The kitchen needs to be in your home, and I think that’s the primary requirement. If your external kitchen is on your property, but separate from your home, then I don’t think you can use the cottage food law. If the kitchen is in your basement, it may be possible.
