NJ doesn’t have any cottage food rules, exemptions, etc. Since the doughnuts will be made in a commercial kitchen, this should be possible, but I’m not sure of the specific rules. I’ve removed the captcha test for now, until I can figure out what’s going on with it.

Rex, sorry you’re having trouble. There is also an audio option on the captcha test, in case that helps. I am going to send you an email about this.

Jackie, I’m not aware of the specifics for NV, but everything you said sounds about right. If you are only going to sell one cake per month, then I suggest you save some money and just give away the cake for free.

Vinegars probably aren’t allowed, but I’m not 100% sure, so you should contact the ag dept.

Could one make flavored vinegars in New York. I’m thinking strawberry, blueberry, black raspberry, honey/balsamic, or maple balsamic.

David replied to the topic what can/cannot be added/used in cakes? in the forum Cake 10 years ago
Deb, yes you can sell your cakes and yes, you need to register with the ag dept, and there are a number of other requirements, which you can read through on this page: http://forrager.com/law/minnesota/
If you want to use cream cheese frosting, then you can’t run your business from home. http://forrager.com/faq/#commercial

Kathleen, it depends on your state, but if the state only allows direct sales, the likelihood is that you cannot offer CFO products. CFOs are often explicitly not food facilities, and food facilities cannot offer their products for sale. I don’t think your would be considered a public event unless the market happens at a specific location.…[Read more]
David replied to the topic Making no bake candies and fudge in the forum Candy 10 years ago
I think that using a convection oven (but not a microwave) to bake would be fine. Items that are not baked, like fudge, no bake cookies, and no bake candy, would not be allowed.
