Hi, anyone own a pet? If so, what county are you in? It (rules) appears to differ from one county to another or am I mistaken?

Hi All, http://www.grubmarket.com is a website recently launched as a local food online marketplace, perfect place for CFOs to open up online stores to sell cottage food! We would love to support CFOs, home-cooking house-wives to sell more cottage food. There are already a few online stores opened up in this site by several CFOs …

That’s not quite right… anything that is not shelf stable is not allowed, but not everything that is shelf stable is allowed. For instance, pickles are one of the items that can be shelf stable but are not yet allowed. The law currently doesn’t allow for bottled/preserved veggies.
As far as medicine goes, I really don’t know if that falls under…[Read more]

David replied to the topic Direct sales permitted from county to county? in the forum California 10 years, 9 months ago
Yes, this is correct for direct sales only. However, some counties are taking awhile implementing this change. For your indirect sales, the rules haven’t changed.

Hello All-
Do anyone has data on total number(estimated) of homemade food businesses in California, or nationwide?
Any pointers to find more information
Any data on total sales (per state/nationwide)

David replied to the topic Juices? in the forum California 10 years, 10 months ago
Homemade juices are not covered under CA’s law, and therefore, there is currently no way to legally sell homemade juices.
However, CA is in the process of reviewing submissions for adding foods to the allowed list. You can submit a request using the links below until January 31st. Keep in mind that the health dept will only approve items that…[Read more]

Hi there, I opened my CfO last year. I live in Orinda and am registered with Contra Costa. City ordinance says I can run a business from my home but clients can not come to the house. It limits me a little but not a major problem. My business plan was to delivery locally and in time get a Farmers Market stall. I started looking into this and…[Read more]
Donna, the law just got amended on January 1st to allow CFOs to sell directly anywhere in the state. Some counties may take awhile to get up to speed with the new ruling, but eventually no county should be prohibiting CFOs from different ones. You should call up Sonoma again and see if they’re aware of AB 1252, and what they’re doing about it.
Hi David,
I am just days away from getting my LA County CFO permit Class B. The LA Dept. of Public Health told me (last week, Feb 2014) that in LA County, cottage foods from other counties are *not* permitted in retail stores.Where did you hear about the change in the law?
Thanks!
In AB 1252 it seems to say that it is still up to each county…[Read more]
Right — the law change is only applicable to direct sales. Indirect sales have the same rules they’ve had from the beginning, which is that counties may allow intercounty sales if they choose to.

I would like to put in a request to add a new baked item to the current CFO approved list. Does anyone know the email for me to do so?
Nevermind, I found it: http://www.cdph.ca.gov/programs/Documents/fdbCFOapplication.pdf

I have not heard of a county having pet rules (other than the standard rule that they are not allowed to be in the kitchen while processing). Have you heard otherwise?
