That does not fall under the cottage food law and you will need to use a commercial kitchen to produce your items. http://forrager.com/faq/#commercial
May 29, 2015 at 4:16 pm #18464I think that neither of those would be allowed. I’ve never made toffee before, but I always thought that it was made with a stovetop cook process, like most candy. There aren’t too many types of candy that I know of that use a baking cook process, but some do, so that’s why it’s listed as a possibility. I think you will need to use a commercial kitchen to produce your candies: http://forrager.com/faq/#commercial
May 23, 2015 at 3:41 pm #18261Probably not. Texas has a very specific list of foods, which doesn’t include seasonings. It does allow dry mixes (combined commercially-produced ingredients), dried produce, and dry herbs, but flavored salt really doesn’t fall under any of those. You will need to contact the health dept to get approval. I don’t think the type of flavoring would make much difference.

May 19, 2015 at 2:01 pm #18197If you want to sell chocolate-covered strawberries, you need to prepare them in a commercial kitchen. There is no license that would allow you to do this from home. http://forrager.com/faq/#commercial
May 19, 2015 at 1:57 pm #18195I honestly don’t know what’s technically allowed and what’s not. I’d recommend you contact your ag dept.
May 18, 2015 at 9:38 am #18138I would think that most simple sugar decorations would be allowed. Anything requiring refrigeration would not be allowed. If your decorations have dairy in them, I’d recommend you call the Bureau of Food and Meat Inspection at 850-245-5520.
May 18, 2015 at 9:31 am #18136No — not if you plan on making them at home. You need to make them in a commercial kitchen and get a commercial license: http://forrager.com/faq/#commercial
May 16, 2015 at 5:55 am #18090The cottage food law only pertains to food items, and I’m not sure if it allows extracts. You should contact the ag dept about making those.
I don’t know about other laws. I would expect anything that’s applied to skin to be regulated by the health dept. Laundry supplies… I have no idea. What I do know is that anytime you’re starting a business, you need to see if your county requires you to get a business license.
