Actually the ag dept’s stance on sampling recently changed, and this element got overlooked when I updated that law page a couple weeks ago. Sorry about that!
You can offer samples as long as they are prepackaged in your home kitchen. They don’t need to have individual labels, but you do need to have a fully-labeled product on-hand to show the…[Read more]

I don’t know of anyone who has compiled a list of counties, but perhaps some health dept has one. Try calling up Cook County and seeing if they know more. If you can’t find a list, it’s possible that one doesn’t exist. If you spend the time to create one by contacting every county’s health dept, I’d be happy to incorporate it into the law page so…[Read more]

1) I never started my cookie business (for various reasons), and having recently moved, I am once again trying to start a CFO. But I wouldn’t start a business based on non-customized cookies, as I explain here. […]

Mary, yes, I remember your diligent efforts in OK to get the law passed. Is there something you need before you can help clients?

Thanks for the kind words Anne. I see that you humbly declined to mention all of the work that you are doing to assist cottage food producers in Colorado!

As long as you get a residential kitchen license, you should be able to sell to stores, though I’m not sure if there’s extra licensing required, like a wholesale license.

I don’t understand it either.
You’ll have to check with zoning laws before you can establish a pickup area, and you may have to get some kind of permit.

No — you need to produce it in a commercial kitchen. http://forrager.com/faq/#commercial

Yeah it’s unfortunate, but I don’t think of the folks who create spam as being evil or anything. They’re just trying to make some money, albeit in a very irritating way.

Thanks Shar. Getting ahold of my chocolate chip cookies is easy… simply swing by my place in Medfield, MA and I’ll be sure to have some ready for you. ;)
David Crabill replied to the topic Kettle Corn in the forum Ohio 8 years, 6 months ago
You don’t need any permit from the ag dept to sell kettle corn in-person or to grocery stores and restaurants, but there may be local requirements, like a business license. Also, you probably can’t sell anywhere, since zoning laws restrict where business activities can take place. http://forrager.com/faq/#starting

I don’t have specific recommendations, but I would suggest finding bakeries in your area that sell GF foods, and see what suppliers they use.
