    Hi David,
    I’m interested in starting a cottage food business with beef jerky. I’ve read the article related to Pennsylvania which is very informative. Thank you for your hard work. My question is for the equipment I use i.e. smoker, dehydrator, slicer, must the be nsf approved to pass the state inspection?

    Jay, I’m pretty sure that your equipment doesn’t need to follow commercial standards. You should call the ag dept to make sure.
