shagbark hickory syrup

    I am new here and just learning about cottage laws. Anyone know if hickory bark syrup would be allowed in Michigan from my home kitchen. It is basically just boiled bark, strained and cooked in lots of sugar.

    I’d say it’s pretty doubtful they would allow it, but I’m not sure. You can contact the ag dept at 800-292-3939 or MDA-Info@michigan.gov.

    Thank you, David. Maybe I’ll try making brittle from it instead of syrup. No canning or bottling that way.
