Although it may be common for New Yorkers to sell homemade food on Etsy, it is nevertheless illegal. Also, cordials wouldn’t be allowed under the cottage food law for in-person sales. You will need to use a commercial kitchen to produce the cordials. http://forrager.com/faq/#commercial

Betsy, the vinegar wouldn’t be a problem, but I am almost sure that your health dept won’t allow a mustard containing egg. In that case, I don’t think tests are going to help you. If you want to sell a mustard without egg, then you probably won’t need to get it lab tested.

Vinegars probably aren’t allowed, but I’m not 100% sure, so you should contact the ag dept.

I sell flavored vinegar’s at State Sanctioned Farmers Market here in Alabama. Has to be listed on my growers permit.

Could one make flavored vinegars in New York. I’m thinking strawberry, blueberry, black raspberry, honey/balsamic, or maple balsamic.

I’d say it’s pretty doubtful they would allow it, but I’m not sure. You can contact the ag dept at 800-292-3939 or MDA-Info@michigan.gov.

I also sell vinaigrette’s, vinegar based sauces and hoping to start selling home made vinegar this fall.
