Hi there,
When Michelle was asked to
come on the podcast,
she hesitated.
When I called to ask about her concerns, she said she
wasn't as profit-motivated as most of my guests. She said she had "a different sort of story than you're used to".
Now, it is true that
I generally look for compelling success stories to feature on the show.
But success isn't based on how much money you make. It's based on whether you achieve your goals.Michelle's
primary goal for her business was to have fun, and let me assure you, she's definitely achieved that!
She's also
sold thousands upon thousands of cookies over the past 13 years, so she's made a good chunk of dough too. (both kinds :)
But a major side benefit of having "fun" as the focus, is that
she's been able to pivot her business and products as needed, and still stay on purpose.
I'm sure you'll agree that
Michelle never should have doubted herself in the first place -- she was an amazing guest, and
this is a great episode!Listen to Episode 110: Michelle Dukes with The Cookie CuttersForraging ahead,

P.S. Apology -- I was incorrect last week when I said that Virginia will be allowing online sales and in-state shipping. Their
new bill won't allow those, but it will allow direct sales at events, clarify that online advertising is allowed, and triple the sales limit for acidified foods. I'm still not quite sure why lawmakers changed the bill as they did, but rest assured that their intent was not to allow online sales.
