Hi there,
Valerie's cottage food business is quite different from most:- When she started her business, she already had a loyal customer base.
- And even if she didn't, she could have easily put herself in front of thousands of potential customers.
- She uses the cottage food law, but doesn't use her home kitchen.
- When she started, she already had all of the equipment and knowledge that she needed.
Sounds pretty great, right?Well, not so fast... she faces plenty of challenges, they're just different than what most entrepreneurs face:
- You can probably source ingredients and supplies at a competitive cost. Valerie can't.
- If you run out of something, you can probably easily buy it from a local store or Amazon if needed. Valerie can't.
- She has to charge prices that automatically turn many customers away.
- She had to get her customers to switch to a completely different sales model.
So
she definitely had plenty of advantages when she started her cottage food bakery,
but by no means was her success guaranteed.
Valerie's business journey is quite unique... you'll want to give it a listen!
