Hi there,
A few weeks ago, I told you about the free mini course that I am creating for anyone starting a cottage food business.
I'm now starting to create the lessons in the course, and the first lesson is finished. It's about understanding your cottage food law, and you can
check it out here. If you have any feedback, I'd appreciate it!
I was going to include product selection ideas in the first lesson, but quickly realized that it was
plenty long enough with just the law info. I'll have to fit in product ideas into a later lesson.
Watch Mini Course Lesson #1: Understanding Your Cottage Food LawAlso, I just published a
new podcast episode with Dr. Christine Bertz, a biologist and conservationist from Memphis, TN who started beekeeping a few years ago, and now sells the resulting honey to her local community.
I found Christine's story compelling, because although she is excited about the booming nature of her business, her strongest motivations are non-monetary.
Christine explains the importance of beekeeping from a conservation standpoint, and she's found a way to support charities by blending two passions of hers: running and beekeeping.
But she also shares the business side of things and how lucrative honey sales can be. I was surprised to hear that almost anyone with a suburban backyard can keep bees, and by the end of the episode, Christine's enthusiasm might even have you considering starting a hive of your own to make some extra side income!
Listen to Episode 11: Selling Honey & Supporting A Cause with Dr. Christine BertzStay tuned for a big cottage food law update next week!
