Hi there,

First off, a quick shoutout to Louisiana. Their new law went into effect on Monday. It's a super simple law, raising the sales cap from $20k to $30k.

But I must say: Louisiana's law is like no other. Basically, if you sell less than $30k of nonperishable foods, you are exempt from the food laws and can sell freely most anywhere.

BUT there are special rules & restrictions for makers of "breads, cakes, cookies, or pies" which allow them to sell more than $30k per year. Why did they limit it to just those four baked goods, you might ask? I honestly have no idea! A strange law indeed, but at least a decent one.

Alright, now let's get to the topic of this email: getting your time back.

This week, I've ironically had less time than ever because I'm taking a new step in my business: hiring someone to help.

Truthfully, this is majorly out of my comfort zone, and my experience with hiring is almost zero. But with 2 young kids and multiple businesses, it was inevitable.

So I finally did it: I posted a job and am currently in the throes of narrowing down my long (much longer than I was expecting) applicant list.

It's been a learning process, for sure.

But this email isn't about me. It's about you.

Because you should probably do it too. Especially if you're making at least $500/mo in sales and have other commitments (job, kids, etc).

Look back to Episode 55 with Jennie Gibson. She is physically disabled and has a special needs son.

How come her business is so successful? A big part of the reason is because of her virtual assistant (VA). She offloads most admin and online tasks to her VA, so she can spend more time focusing on her cake pops.

Your first reaction might be the same as mine: hiring someone is way too expensive!

Or you might be thinking: it's too hard to find help right now. Nobody wants to work.

And I'm here to tell you: that's definitely not true. It's actually very easy to find help. You just have to know where, and how, to look.

I'll explain more in a future email. Sorry to leave you hanging on this one, but it's already a long enough email as it is, and I have to get back to responding to applicants! :)

The main purpose of this email is to open your mind to the possibility of hiring help. It's something you should probably do sooner than you think.

More coming in the weeks ahead!

Until next week,
David

P.S. Any guesses for how many job applications I've received so far? My job's been posted for less than a week.
