Hi there,
Three months ago, you might recall that I had a podcast guest who decided to shutdown her business.
That was
Janna Paterno, and amongst a number of issues was the fact that her cookies were far too amazing for the price she was charging.
So I had a mission: find a cottage food cookie decorator who has
equally amazing cookies but also has a thriving business.
And I found one. Her name is
Amanda Luecke.
She has
over 26k Instagram followers. So it's no surprise that she's always booked solid for months in advance.
But she wasn't exactly what I was expecting.I thought I'd find someone who charged way-high prices and did custom cookie orders all day, every day.
But Amanda
takes care of her young kids during the day.
And
custom orders are only one side of her business (not even the most lucrative side).
And her pricing isn't drastically higher than Janna's.
So I straight up asked her:
"Is it possible to support a family as a cookie decorator?"And
I was definitely surprised by her answer.
My favorite part of this episode is towards the end, where she is super open and honest about
just how difficult it is to be a one-woman team, but that she also wouldn't trade it for the world!
Listen to Episode 67: The One-Woman Show with Amanda LueckeUntil next week,
David
P.S. Amanda must have set a record for most equipment/resources recommendations in an episode. 15 recommendations in total.
Check it out!
