Hi there,
Here is a little known fact: I actually write all of my emails.
Myself.
A ghost writer doesn't write them for me. Nor do I ask AI to generate rough drafts for me, or edit anything.
And you know what? Sometimes, it's pretty hard! Sometimes, it takes a lot of time.
And sometimes, I think, "Wow, it would be a LOT easier if I did have AI write these for me."
It's not like I'm anti-AI or anything. Quite the opposite, actually -- I think it's mostly beneficial. I've had it create my business logo, and next month, I'll be showing you how I used it to create product photos too. I've also used it to plan trips, create birthday invitations, research things, create ad copy, or even find a good movie for my wife and I to watch.
So why don't I use it here?
It's because, in large part, I can tell when things are written by AI, and I can tell when an image was created by AI.
And I'm not the only one. More and more, I'm seeing people saying things like "It looks AI-generated." (and believe me -- it's NOT a compliment :)
AI is incredibly useful for certain things, and it's honestly amazing what it can do. But like anything without true creative freedom, it falls into patterns. And people are starting to recognize them.
So ultimately, I like to think that this newsletter is more original -- and more worthy of reading -- because I take the time to write it.
Plus, if you're going to take your time to read my emails, I figure you actually want to hear from me, not from an AI bot.
But I'm not as consistent as AI. Some days, my writing is better, some days it's worse. Sometimes I'm more creative, sometimes I'm more analytical.
But all days, it's me. It's definitely me. :)
Forraging ahead,
David
P.S. In case you're thinking, "What's the point of this email?" The point is... don't lose your creative freedom. You might not be perfect, but what you create is still valuable!
