@david I’m so excited to find your community at just the perfect time. I started my journey with the delivery of a freeze dryer on 10 January 2024. I found your tutorial of 5 videos JUST as I was starting to ask every one of the questions addressed in each. I believe I can legally conduct my business (selling freeze dried pet food for small animals) if I adhere to both pet food standards and human food standards for packaging and labeling, but what I want to sell in pet food is not allowable for sale in human food. Is there any way I can prove that my product is shelf-stable and therefore should be permitted under their laws? Specifically, meat and vegetables are included in my product and in Maryland, you cannot sell meat or vegetables under cottage food laws. Since I’m selling food, I think I should be looking at the cottage food industry. How has the recent use of freeze dryers affected the cottage food industry and how have/has the regulatory bodies accepted freeze drying?
